Rider & Visitor Information

Riding at Longfield

Nearly anyone can ride at Longfield, you just need to be 4 years of age or over! The only other restriction we have to apply is a 13st weight limit.

Contacting Us

Although we have an email address, please telephone us to book your first lesson. That way we can discuss your requirements and ensure the lesson is tailored to your needs. Our telephone number is: 01706 812736

Finding Us

You will find our full address and details of how to find us, including directions and sat nav advice, on the Contact page of this website.

Arranging a Visit

Before booking your first lesson, you are more than welcome to come and visit to the yard to meet some of our horses and view the facilities. Please telephone us beforehand so that we can ensure one of the team is available to answer any questions you may have.

Coming for Your First Lesson

When you come for your first lesson we ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time. That way we can get all your details and fit you with a hat in plenty of time.

It will also give us a chance to answer any questions you may have. You will also need to complete a Rider Registration Form, which you can download here or get from reception on your first visit.

What to Wear

When you book a lesson, if you don’t already know what to bring and wear then please discuss it with our staff. In general whilst riding you’ll need:
• A Riding Hat which must have a CE mark and conform to Standard PAS 015
(which we can provide)
• A pair of sturdy shoes or boots with a heel
• A sleeved top that covers the shoulders
• Long trousers made of a thick material – we advise against jeans as the seams can rub

We also recommend a body protector be worn (especially by children and for jumping) aswell as riding gloves.

How to Pay

Click here for our current price list. Please pay before your lesson. We accept cash or credit cards.Gift vouchers and books of tickets (11 class lesson for the price of 10) can also be purchased from reception.

If you have to cancel your lesson, please try to give us 24 hours’ notice. This allows us to offer your place to another rider. For this reason, we have to charge for any cancellations made less than 24 hours before the lesson start time.

Safety Advice

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times whilst on the yard. For your own safety, you must follow the instructions given to you by our staff and instructors at all times. Please be aware that all horses may react unpredictably on occasions.
